we got snow!!!

...lots and lots of snow! This is the biggest snow event in about thirty years, all the local tv news teams have been rambling on and on about it for HOURS everyday for about 5 days now. It's getting a bit old. Still, very pretty when you back off the tube and look out the window!

Janet Ann

It's been almost a month....Mom passed away on October 16th. We only had 39 days from the time we found out about her cancer till it was over....it went too fast. We want to have a really pretty memorial service for her in the spring, with lots of flowers, good food and friends. Mom hated to give parties, not so crazy about going to them either so this has perfect......

So now we try to get through the days, Jody has gone back to school, Jeff, Dad and I are taking it one day at a time, we still have all of our Christmas sales to do. All three on one weekend.....oh help! Life will go on, but it's never going to be as good with out her....

Mom

About 4 weeks ago we found out that Mom has cancer. She is 74, has osteoporosis, scoliosis and has been in pain for years.....her Doctor just didn't take it seriously, did not run any tests and repeatedly told her "you do not have cancer". It took a trip to the ER and a cat scan..... it's in her liver, spine and lung. She just wanted to come home, so here we are. The hospice is wonderful, and it's free. We have a nurse who visits 2 or 3 days a week, a social worker and a bath aide...so Mom can stay here in comfort. She sleeps a lot, and eating and swallowing have become a struggle.....
As we were checking her out of the hospital, the pretty pregnant Doctor at the hospital said that Mom's regular Doctor "wants you to come see him next week", ( a 3 hour round trip from our tiny town to the city) we just shook our heads so she said she'd just note that the message was delivered. It's been a month now, and this man who was her Doctor for more than 25 years hasn't even phoned......

Hellloooo, long time no see!

Wow, where have I been? Not here sense March, good grief!

Lots has happened, I've been to several fairs and festivals....some good sales and a few lame, but thats the way it goes. Getting all wound up and excited for the Faerie Worlds Festival in Veneta Oregon the first weekend of August. The studio is filling up with all kinds of lovely fairy things... pretty fairy wings, crowns, lanterns and dancing ribbon wands. Next will be wee porcelain dolls and fragile little fairy furniture.....both are amazingly messy. Last year I did really well $$$ with the fairy furniture, when I told Mom how much I took in, she looked at me as if I had stole out of peoples pockets. So this year, no one is hassleing me about my dry sticks stach!

I'm loving paper...hats, crown and dolls too

This is what I've been working on....but I have to set it aside and get hauling on fairy dolls for the Buckman Sale, in just a couple of weeks...YIKES!
Today is Jeff's b-day.....we went into Astoria and he renewed his Drivers licence, we ate lunch at wet dog cafe-brew pub (bad, luke warm chowder) and bought dinner from Safeway (taco stuff). It rained hard all day.....Happy B-day Jeff!

Clever Fairy Christy-Lee!

Okay, this is the crown I posted earlier last month. She had ordered it for Valentines Day, wanted something romantic with roses...but the reds didn't match (always a problem with reds). So Christy-Lee added some more roses, gave it a spin and tah-dah! I LOVE what she did with it!
Thanks for sending the pix sweetie!

What I did over the weekend...

Yeah, so Cindy drove out from Vancouver on Thursday and stayed over night. We had big plans to do something crafty and end up with a dazzling finished project that would be the envy of all our friends. So what really happened was we kind of sat and looked at images we had downloaded (she brought her laptop) and fave web sites. Then we made some paper crowns, printed out from free dover downloads I photoshopped into crowns, then glued glitter....tah dah! Friday we drove into Portland, shopped at Button Emporium & Art Media. Tryed to cross the river at 4 (bad bad idea) and it took 2 hours to get to Vancouver.....but we did get there in time to hold her grandchildren and make it to dinner & a movie. Saturday we went to great clips and I got my first haircut in more than 10 years ( only $13!!) makes me sooo happy! Then we went to Ikea for meatballs and wicker furniture, walked through a big home store, Craft warehouse.......cripes this is soo boring.
Anyway it was fun and Cindy drove me home on Sunday.....Thanks Cindy!

What I did today....

Dust.....many many dust bunnies, a whole herd is now gone. Okay, so I hadn't dusted in my bedroom sense oh probably last summer. But all I do is sleep in there so it's real easy not to see them at ....... (insert more really lame excuse here). Anyway everything is clean and shiney cause Cindy is coming in the morning, her husband is out of town so we are going to craft and play for days! She will even sleep over on Thursday night and we can go back to her house Friday for more goofing off, maybe even a movie...yeah!

Oh the moon! We stood out in the cold and watched the eclipe tonight, so amazing. It's unusual for for the sky to be clear in Oregon in Febuary, so that made it extra special. I could hear other people out watching it, quiet voices murmuring in the dark. The moon looked like a burned cookie....extra big and close. Spooky and magic..... oh speaking of magic, I love this image. the bottles, the letters, the lighting ... all wonderful.

Thursday stuff

Finished a special order fairy crown...for Valentines day...in burgandy, which is not one of my best colors, but it looks beautiful and she's happy ...... yippee! I've added glitter to the rose petals for more sparkle. Started some cone hats with watercolor paper. Got the paper wet first and it rolled up like a dream...easy to glue when it dryed too. Can't decide what theme to follow. Later.....

An introduction....

Hello....been meaning to start a blog for ages, so here goes. This feels weird like a middle school assignment.

My name is Jennifer Bohrer, here is a little about me.

I was born an artist, mom says I was trying to color inside the lines at age 2. When we were little, Dad worked at a paper mill. He would bring home reams of paper and we spent hours drawing or painting.
I spent 25 years in retail advertising as a designer, illustrator, photo stylist & art director. I would still be there if MayCo. hadn't downsized and merged stores, "releasing" more than a thousand excutivesnationwide about 5 years ago. So here I am, finally set up in my own studio and no more cubical!!!
